I am a fine artist living and working in East Sussex, UK. I am originally from Brazil but have been in the UK for over 20 years and love to share my visions of the word as I create my art. In this blog I will attempt to write about my creative process. Please bear with me as I am not naturally good with words, I much prefer to create visual images to express my feelings and perceptions of things around me.
Just to say something a little more than just the painting process I also want to talk a little bit more on my choice of subject matter and the visual element I chose to represent my series of work. The paintings are done in minimalist style but not completely abstract as they are images taken from the sea and fused with my own artistic interpretation.
My creative process starts with a simple line. From there I develop my image together with what comes naturally to me – my artistic contribution! The process I use is quite slow, so I tend to take time to really develop and feel into each layer as they are being applied- it is like music in a way – the many instruments and voices coming and going on a single flow, just like a line.
Subject matter is very important and mine is the sea, the ocean. For me the sea, the ocean represents what is the unobtainable, the mysterious, the magical, the beautiful. The vision of this big blueish, greenish water before me becomes more and more profound and meditative. That is when a desire arises that compels me to paint it, to visually describe it, to enter into that space. Its simply that – a strong desire. It is the same underneath feeling that describes almost everything I see. Although I am focused on the subject matter of the ocean, it came to me that the best name for my body of work is Visions of the World because it is so descriptive of my experience of the world around me. It is like being in front of the ocean – the world is beautiful and pleasurable yet the world is dangerous too. The world has everything to provide you but it can also take everything from you.
The photograph that inspired my painting below is not of the sea but I am intrigued by the illusion that it created. The horizon separates the Earth from the sky and it has the same mysterious effect that the sea has, its watery and the colours were stunning!
I present my new series of painting which are, of course, inspired by the sea and the natural world. I just want to share what I am creating and my ideas as they develop. I hope you enjoy this with me!

I am happy with the visual representation of this painting but I am having a bit of a problem with the frame showing underneath. This is something that I need to sort out before I proceed with the next one.
